CSI / Ikamva Labanthu – supporting vulnerable babies |
|
|
| | PEERPOWER™ started supporting the Ikamva Labanthu Family services project that supports vulnerable children and orphans in September 2009. We have created a sustainable transactional giving arrangement with them, for every participant on one of our programs 2 vulnerable toddlers and babies are fed for the duration of the program. We currently have 18 people on a programme and will be able to feed 36 children a month for 10 months. The need to care for children and the provision of services to carers that support them is the cornerstone of Ikamva Labantu's mission. The focus of the Family Services Sector (FSS) is to build the capacity of affiliated carers which will enhance the care of orphans and vulnerable children. Carers are all people taking care of unsupported children on either a full- or part-time basis and in different capacities. Carers under the FSS initiative are Foster Mothers, Magnificent Mothers and Fathers, Home Carers, Community Angels, Grandparents and Siblings. |
